This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application that uses AI to recognize beer from photos (the “App”, “we”, “us”) collects and processes information.
1) What we collect
- Photos you submit: images you upload for recognition. Processed transiently for the purpose of analysis.
- Usage & diagnostics: app interactions, crash logs, performance data.
- Device & app data: device model, OS version, language/locale, app version, approximate region (derived from IP).
- Optional account data (only if you provide it): email or profile info for features like sync or support.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data.
2) How we use data
- Provide beer recognition results and related info.
- Maintain and improve the App (debugging, analytics, quality).
- Prevent abuse and ensure security.
- Communicate with you about support or important updates.
3) Processing of photos
- Photos are sent to our AI processing pipeline only to generate recognition results.
- Unless you explicitly save/share them in the App, photos are not stored by us after processing.
4) Third-party services (processors)
We may use trusted providers to run core functions:
- AI inference providers (e.g., OpenAI or an equivalent) to analyze images.
- Analytics/Crash reporting (e.g., Firebase/Google Analytics, Apple, or equivalents).
- Cloud hosting/CDN to deliver services.
These providers process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards and their own privacy policies.
5) Legal bases (EEA/UK where applicable)
We process data based on: performance of a contract (to provide the App), legitimate interests (security, improvements), and consent (where required by law).
6) Sharing
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We disclose data only to service providers (see §4), authorities when required by law, or successors in case of a business transfer (with equivalent protections).
7) Retention
- Photos: transient—deleted after processing unless you save them.
- Diagnostics/analytics: kept only as long as needed for the purposes above, then deleted or anonymized.
8) Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (encryption in transit, access controls). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9) Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, or port your data, and to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing).
To exercise rights: earthquakedev@icloud.com.
10) Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
11) International transfers
If data is processed outside your country, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., standard contractual clauses).
12) Do Not Track & CCPA/CPRA disclosures (California)
We do not respond to browser DNT signals. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by CPRA.
13) Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the new version in the App and update the “Last updated” date above.
